Preeti was born as severe low vision child in year 1997 in a very poor family in Barbhata village [Fingeshwar block, Raipur district, Chhattisgarh state]. Her parents work as agricultural labourers to make both ends meet as are having a very small piece of land. She was identified by Prerak in year 2007 during baseline survey.

She was enrolled in government primary school and studied till 4th class. She was sent for clinical assessment, however lost vision gradually. Then she stopped going to school, however continued learning Braille reading and writing at home. She appeared externally for school examinations [through open school system] and successfully completed 5th class in 2007, 8th class in 2009 and 10th class in year 2011. At present, she is preparing for class 12.

She participated in State level Paralympics in year 2010 and won 1st rank each in shot-put and long jump. She also participated in National level trial Paralympics, 2011 held at Bangalore and won 2nd rank each in 100 and 200 meters running.
